Interview with Our Bride Roxanne

Hi Lovelies!!

Today on the blog, we decided to interview one of our past clients- the beautiful and smiley bride Roxanne, who was married August 13, 2016. We wanted to discuss her wedding and her views on hiring a wedding planner.

LLW: How did you and your husband meet?

RZ: Paul & I met at my best friend’s wedding. I know it sounds like the title of a movie, but luckily this was real life. I was a bridesmaid and he was one of the best friends of the groom. We got a chance to chat during the cocktail hour and I was really impressed with how handsome and how gentlemanly he was and is. During the reception, we kept talking and danced a bit. Since I’m the kind of person that always does her research, I ran up to the groom at the wedding (I now feel really bad about bothering him about this on his wedding day) and asked him “what is Paul’s biggest downfall?” The groom replied, “it’s that he’s too nice.” I knew from that moment that I had to be with Paul.

LLW: How did Paul propose?

RZ: It was very sweet. At the time, I was living in Manhattan full-time and Paul flew in from Toronto on the first nice weekend of the springtime. He suggested that we go for a walk in Central Park, which I found to be a bit suspect since Paul is usually the first one to suggest we stay at home and watch a movie, but I was more than happy to oblige since I love the outdoors and cherish any moment I can get in the local parks. We went for the walk and sat down in one of the grassy areas in front of Bow Bridge in Central Park, which is one of NYC’s most romantic spots. We got to talking about our future together and how happy we were to be with each other. He looked at me and said, “Will you marry me?” First thing I did was give him a long kiss and in my surprised state and initial confusion that he didn’t pull out the ring right away, I asked “Wait, are you serious?” He obviously replied that he was serious and pulled out the ring. I said YES with the biggest smile on my face and the rest is history.

LLW: What was your style/theme of your wedding?

RZ:Paul & I are big fans of camping and nature and we really wanted to have a big outdoor wedding. Since we both grew up going to summer camps and so did a lot of our friends, we decided to have a summer camp style wedding at a Ukrainian summer campground north of Toronto, which our guests absolutely loved!

LLW: Why did you choose to hire a wedding coordinator/planner?

RZ: We knew we needed the help pretty early on in the process. I regard getting a wedding planner, especially Love Laced Weddings, as one of the best decisions I ever made in the wedding process. I was living in New York City full-time, working at a finance firm full-time and going to grad school part-time. My husband (fiancé at the time) was living in Toronto, but he also had a really busy work schedule and didn’t have the time to visit vendors or research all our wedding options. If there are any future brides reading this, I am telling you – get the wedding planner! You won’t regret it.

LLW: Why did you decide to go with Love Laced Weddings?

RZ: Like I mentioned before, I’m the type that does my research. I really wanted to make sure we got a great wedding planner. I probably reached out to 80% of the wedding planners in Toronto and scheduled phone interviews with at least 10 of them. Ruby stood out right away. The other planners I spoke to were not as professional, not as organized, and not as enthusiastic as Ruby. Paul and I met her in person and we knew we had to move forward with her as our wedding planning in just 10 minutes of meeting her. She was absolutely amazing and we are so so glad we hired her & her team. We could not have had the amazing, memorable, insanely fun wedding that we had without her hard work, energy & vision.

LLW: Would you have done anything different? Whether it be with the planner or any aspect of your wedding?

RZ: Hindsight is 20-20 but I would say I wish I had stressed less. Even so, Ruby was great at keeping me calm and focused. She was always so positive and helpful no matter what came up.

LLW: Any advice for engaged or couples looking for wedding coordinator?

RZ: This one is easy – hire a planner & make sure it’s Love Laced Weddings!
