Ladies, we all know that bridesmaids are an essential part of any wedding. They comfort, help with planning, radiate with joy at bridal events, and dance the night away with you on your big day!
After saying YES to being part of one of the most memorable day of your girl life, it’s important to note that bridesmaids have responsibilities as well. Here are 5 to consider:
1. Bridesmaids Outfits: Bridesmaids are expected to pay to the full ensemble! Yes, that includes dress, shoes, & jewelry. If this seems unfair to you, always remember that the couple is already spending a lot of their big day. Most couples will consider your finances. If they don’t, don’t be scared to express yourself in a respectful way and make sure you’re all on the same page! You’re besties after all!
2. Bridal Shower: The cost of the Bridal Shower should be paid by whoever is hosting. If the bridal party is hosting, they are expected to split the cost amongst themselves. In the case where a bride’s relative is hosing, the bridesmaids are still expected to chip in some way. This could be as simple as cooking a meal & setting up the space.
3. Bachelorette Party: Typically, if the bachelorette party is hosted in town, the bridesmaids & invited guests will all chip in to cover the bride’s costs. However, if the bachelorette party is out of town, and requires travel & accommodation, then the bride will also contribute to help cover the expenses. In this case, bridesmaids & guests may want to treat the bride to a night out or a Spa day.
4. Gifts: Bridesmaids are still expected to give a shower & wedding gift. The amount can of course be adjusted depending on your overall expenses as a bridesmaid. Oftentimes, bridesmaids may decide to chip in for a group gift to eliminate overspending.
5. Help with wedding related tasks: The bride may ask you to lend a hand with DIY projects, guest favours or invitation designs. Whatever the task may be, always be there for her and try to help.
